The Best Answer suggests using Virtual PC. I notice that you say that to run on USB it needs to be NTFS. VirtualBox may notify you that your network connection will be reset during the installation. Just be sure the device is not in use, because essentially it becomes disconnected from the host when made available to the virtual machine.
