On a 4GHz eight core 16GB on an SSD it took about ten minutes to find the updates (in case anyone else encounters this scenario and is wondering how long to The error on boot says I need to "change current boot device into other secured boot devices."Was hoping to get some help on how to proceed. According to Microsoft, this problem occurs because Windows Update itself needs an update, creating a bit of a catch-22.   6. When repair was completed after sever restarts, Windows restarted with the latest update.

Before I used WSUS, I had to shut down ALL antivirus programs, deactivate WU and force it to do no updates, ignore the copious warning messages from the Action Centre, unplug Windows Update Not Working Windows 10 I solved the problem in the following way (as suggested here): Stop the Windows Update and Application Experience services (if they don't stop, disable them and then reboot) Delete everything inside Including Windows Defender.Also turn off all unnecessary programs.

Once I could identified SP1 I unchecked all other update and only check SP1 and chose update. That is what is using all your CPU. Contact Microsoft support If you've done everything you can, it's time to contact Microsoft support and see if they can walk you through any solutions. Open Task Manager (Services tab), highlight the Service "Wuauserv", right click, select "Go To Process".
