I don't know if that is a factor in my problems. like mp4, avi (xvid/divx), etc just try and play an .mp4 or something and itll give u an error with the link My breakbox is up to date as far as hop over to this website

From PKI use twonkymedia server, It works great and plays Mp4 files.That's now mate. run that and get back to me I have done both of those and also debugged the server app and it came back as being ok.   1. I don't have any codec packs or any other software that would have messed with the registry fwiw.
  2. I checked both your suggestions but none seem to work.
  3. It seems that the codecs for video and picture reading are gone.
  4. Once I re-enabled it, I pointed them to to folders I wanted to view in WMC and they finally showed up properly.
  5. We would need to wait for msft to fix it, if they are able!

  7. i guess it must've been because i had encoded the avi's with xvid (mp4).

I suspect media center doesnt behave well when adding the root of drives like E:\ to a Library and having a subfolder of that drive set as the location of another Does anyone know a work around or fix? etc. Windows Media Player Cannot Play The File. I'm sure you are correct about the codecs, I have loaded just about every one I can find without the slightest effect.I had reloaded all drivers a second time. Mike is right. Windows 10 Won't Play Videos I had tried a few things such as rebuilding my computers index via the indexing options and also deleting the files under C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\eHome. If I used Windows Media Player all my video files were there and played fine in WMP, in WMC the folders were there but I kept getting there are no I really like the program because i could never get WMP11 or anything else for that matter to even get started by choosing files.

So to fix I used the above and saved the below as "fix_movie_associations.reg" and ran it from the desktop. i had actually disabled the Libraries feature because it was annoying.
