I have tried reparing Window twice already, and have restore it to all my previous settings, but still my desktop just don't show up. And I find also its very slow to use that drives. this worked!! Then go to start -> all programs -> accesories -> system tools(im translating the option from my computer so, this might not be the exact wording) -> system restore.

The window does not display any icon. news I removed the later part and changed it to just "Explorer.exe" which solved the problem for me. The data value should only be explorer.exe so delete anything after that, Do this by double clicking on shell and edit the value and hit ok Restart and thats it! I go to task manager and no applications are running so it appears that the boot is complete. Once we re-booted the system after the SP3 installation the computers were stuck on the "Windows XP graphic" on the screen with a continuous scroll bar. YEAH!!

I see the screen that has hit DEL for bios or F8 for start up features and I see my boot manager asking me if I want Win 7 or Ubuntu.
