I’m looking to create a pop culture/geek website where the main site has features in a blog format. I’d also like to put a forum on it, but have it to where the users will have the same account to comment on the blog posts and the forums. Are there any suggestions for web software or hosting websites that will accomplish this?

I recommend one of these: http://www.tophostingpicks.com

iPage has the best offer right now.
Their standard price is $84/year ($6.95) but they have
a 50% sale, one year of hosting for $42.00.

    Their plan includes:

    Unlimited disk space
    Unlimited bandwidth
    Free domain name

    Price: $42/year ($3.50)

They have one of the most popular hosting platforms, which currently hosts over a million websites. They’re also one of the oldest hosting companies, founded in 1998.

They include a free point & click online site builder so you can create a website without any programming (easily, just by drag and drop) or you could install WordPress (they include easy, one click install from their control panel), choose a theme that you like, and start adding content.

They also have a great custom control panel with OneClick installs of all the popular software like WordPress, Joomla, Forums, Chat, Galleries, Online stores and a lot more.

For hosting I am using http://www.domainstrade.net

I will not write too much about it’s best quality and best service but would just simply say that I myself am happily enjoying their services since last 4 years for my several websites all hosted on one single account

    All the best

    Hi,
I would recommend “Web Hosting Pad” for your Web Hosting because it’s cheap and very reliable. With web hosting, you’ll get free domain. Their support service is awesome. This company offers site building tools, application vault, web mail, antivirus, Php, MysQL ,e-commerce and hosts unlimited websites in one plan. Don’t go for free web hosting. They are not reliable. I suggest you also check My Webbie Hosting’s Lite Plan. You can install blog scripts like WordPress and forum software like SMF and phpBB2 without hassle using their PHP script installer. The plan costs only $3.95/month and already includes a free domain name, 1.5 G disk space, 150 G monthly traffic, 50 secured email accounts, etc. They also guarantee 24/7 support, 99.9% uptime, one-hour ticket response time, and 30-day money back.

WordPress is great for blogging and also for many other features. You can also install wordpress plugins for forums, newsletter, member login and other functions.

For hosting with wordpress support I suggest you to check http://neond.com

    Hi,
You can always use free blogging host or forum. But free hosts come with a price. Search engines take self hosted sites more seriously. besides, more importantly, visitors take your site more seriously if they see that you are not on any free host.

take a test yourself. Which one will you like more as a visitor?

    xoogle.com
    or
    xoogle.bloxspot.com

so, i recommend, you go with paid host and domain to host your forum/blog.

forum softwares can also be found free or paid. Paid is vBulletin which is great (but costs alot) and a free forum software is SMF (great considering it costs nothing and superbly flexible). You can use many “mods” to make your main site (homepage) display info like a blog. You can use portals in forums to do that.

    SMF site example: http://bangladeshtalks.com/index.php
    vBulletin site example: http://www.cricket-highlights.com/

    so my recommendation is:

    1. use a paid host to host your own doamin. godaddy.com is what i use; ($56.88/yr, 10GB space, 300GB Transfer)

    2. Use SMF 2RC2.0 as your forum software which is free to use.

    3. Use a portal in your forum if you want its home page to be blog like.

    4. or if you decide to host a blog use wordpress blogging software. it is great.

    i hope this helps you.
