solved Any Special Method Required for Lenovo Y50 Laptop System Restore? Resolved my issue in moments! MS updates have nothing to do with the restore points disappearing in XP.I have seen them disappear with or without it turned on, for varying reasons.If you wish to re-install system I'm using windows 7 home premium though and not xp. have a peek here
