Thanks! It has the potential to impact all of the browsers you mentioned, but leave the other software unaffected.

Try a system restore to as early as you can go without removing any recently installed software that you installed purposely. If the DNS is unavailable (as it was in my case), or your computer (or router) is not configured properly your browser will not be able to convert names to addresses. I've been using Firefox exclusively and have not interfered with the browser settings or anything.
