My Computer Is Stuck With A Wallpaper

Thanks. I would suggest the newest version of Fix-It Utilities. Report Kate- Apr 7, 2010 at 04:28 PM I have the same problem .. what can I do from here please help.thank you.

The screen at first brought up the System Restore but it had no restore points it could use, then after closing the System Restore screen, the icons started back up. I will try the Archive option tonight. choate83 replied Jan 18, 2017 at 2:17 AM Cannot change network settings Ztrahel replied Jan 18, 2017 at 1:42 AM Loading... Type into the box "explorer" without the quotation marks and you should have your precious icons back, I would then do a scan to see if a virus has caused this. more info here

Try to "refresh" the desktop. When did you purchase your machine? Please start a New Thread if you're having a similar issue.View our Welcome Guide to learn how to use this site. Been cleaning viruses for two weeks now.

Two days ago I woke up and turned on my computer, to find after I login it just goes to a background; no icons, start menu, etc. if it boots into desktop fine.. May work for those that get the explorer error message or not. Rolling back your system restore, or reverting to old settings is NOT a fix, I repeat, it is NEVER a fix.

Nothing changes. I went to regedit, and followed the steps. I have Windows and it was not exactly by your directions but your directions got me there!! However, the main problem is, once I enter that and hit enter, I see my desktop wallpaper but that's it!

Believe me, I've been there. Try the system restore and that should fix the problem. Report Donny- Apr 14, 2009 at 02:27 PM everything was understood until you got to "had an explorer.exe file in folder that you deleted". Although it works fine in Safe Mode (with the audio and graphics disabled, which is quite and irritating at times).

thanks a lots for this help.... So in the future, don't accept the old "format/system restore/rollback/reinstall" option. I also seen that it could be from deleting a spyware which changed the userinit.exe which is not my problem either. I ran my anti-virus in SAFE MODE too but it didn't detect anything.
