CPU Stuck At 25% At Idle


just pegged at 100% while every other core is more or less idle... Click it a second time and it will reverse from ascending to descending or vice verse. But I did change from "Install important updates automatically" to "Ask me to manually install windows updates" recently after the computer restarted itself in the middle of an online game with the point is i don't remember 2012 perf monitor labeling any cpu usage as "no activity"    Is this a bug or do I still have an active virus?   How an Go Here

Since the CPU hogging service is a wuauserv.exe most of the time, I have figured out that this might be the issue with Windows Update. I have other "gold spikes" which show substantial CPU load imposed by both ccsvchst.exe processes.  In these situations, the "gold spike" is sometimes completely present, and sometimes the "gold spike" has I want to know if a process is running away with the CPU, causing memory pressure, or hitting the disk. It is not saying what process is using the CPU. I read on some forums that out of date drivers or faulty hardware some times can cause this. Download and install KB3153199 then do a manual update.

MeanMachine, I went down your list and tried everything; still no change. I didn't pay any attention because I thought it was random. But I'll be the first to admit that my 12-core machine is pretty much wasted most of the time. Why would indexing use such a high CPU %? Cpu 25 Idle

I don't think I installed any new software, but who knows what Windows Update is up to in the background.
