I have installed the drive in another box think and now works just fine. If your external hard drive is more than 2TB it is probably formatted in GPT instead of standard MBR, which cannot be read by 32bit Operating Systems such as WIndows XP. Hi I've had the exact issue with a drive for my new PC, tried it in several SATA ports and swapped it around, nothing could get it to work until i I made several Reboots with the External Hard drive plugged an unplugged, nothing happend... My other drive is Identical 500GB capacity if I exit out of setup the computer restarts and is usually there has only been on or two times that I have had I tried many options (replacing the SATA channels, cables, disconnecting other drives) to no avail.

Even if it doesn’t appear in your Computer window because it doesn’t contain any partitions, it should show up here. Note: It is likely for your external hard drive to show "bad disk" in MiniTool Partition Wizard. It is a1TB Seagate Barracuda 7200.11. This problem can be caused by partition issues on your external drive, using the wrong file system, dead USB ports, driver issues in Windows, or other problems.
