no joy. The original computer was an even older AMD CPU (quad core), older GeForce, etc. After that, startups behaved ok, but I was still getting random problems with those locking issues. Does this make any sense to you? get redirected here

Well here’s one way to fix it. You need to figure out which drive your CD / thumb drive / external drive is - so try different drive letters and type dir until you see the one that The only way out is to rename the image file that should be loaded (in Save Mode - take a different extension) so that it cannot be loaded anymore. But this has been used with Win XP, Win 7 32 and Win 7 64 for years without any problems.

The only thing that helped in this case was to uninstall the software in safe mode - normal mode was not bootable anymore. Can this be a reason? When Windows boots it will take a LONG time to get all the updated drivers - but hey, it booted, right?
