BTW I am a huge newbie and somewhat computer illiterate, so whichever is the most user-friendly would be good for me. I also would like to know which one will be better for attracting viewers and advertisers. How do I get paid through adervitsing with these two blog host sites?

I prefer Blogspot, but I know that both will give you a great basis. Keep in mind that in some countries (i.e. China), Blogspot is blocked.

Blogspot = For people who know nothing about blogging
WordPress = Serious bloggers (the smarter people use this)

I would recommend using wordpress if you’re going to host your own blog. It has much more features and can be customized to almost anything. Signing up for a self hosted account that will install wordpress is easy. You just need to find cpanel hosting, and it will self install.

Also check out the documentation from wordpress, and they’ll walk you through everything.

Both blogspot and wordpress will let you make a bold on their site but the functionality is limited. Blogspot is owned by google and wordpress is independent, which I think is another reason to go with wordpress.

I noticed you say ed you wanted to get paid via advertising with your blog… All your options will let you include ads on the blog but you’ll need to find them and place them there. Google’s Blogspot does have a plugin to integrate directly with adsense but, for someone starting out you’ll need alot of traffic to see any money at all from adsense.

To sum it up; Do it right – Self install wordpress and you’ll have unlimited options.
