I am the administrator for my computer, but it’s saying I don’t have administrative privileges to change the hosts file. How can I fix this?

Check your user account, you may have forgotten to give it administrative rights.

  2. Adrian says:

The hosts file is often set to “Read-only” you have to clear that property under the file properties before you can save any edits.
It could be that some anti-malware utilities have locked it up more, you will have to check your utilities if you have ant, on how to unlock it, if that’s the case.

What operating system (Windows, Mac OS X, Linux) are you using?
